Out with the old…

Hi All!

I spoke recently about how I wanted to take my blog in a new direction and I didn’t know if I was going to set a completely new blog up or if I was going to rename this one. I decided that I wanted to keep this as an archive for what Fabulously Fat Fashion was – so if I ever needed to flick through it I could. I guess it’s like starting a shiny new diary.

So voila, I give you Fab Fat Mama. My new blog will still have lots of plus size fashion, but also loads of different content such as parenting, saving money, how to make the best of a low budget, family days out, home decor, crafts and DIY and much more!

I’ve changed all my social media so you can find me on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram still – just under my new name.

I’m already super excited to start my new blog and have loads of things I want to share with you like the time we made dip dyed onesies, how we got the furniture for her bedroom on a budget and how we decorated etc. I’m also making decorations for an upcoming party so have lots to show/teach you there too!

So yeah, please go give Fab Fat Mama a follow and join me on the next chapter in my life.

Family Festivities. Christmas day featuring Lindy Bop & Vintageous Rags!

Hi all!

I hope everybody had a wonderful Christmas. I think mine was my best one ever! It was so full of family and love, I had the best day ever! For me, the day wasn’t about the gifts I was going to receive, but about spending the time with my family and celebrating the fact that my little bear Eleanor was here with us.

Eleanor of course was dressed for the occasion as the cutest Mrs Clause in the land!

I went for a lovely strappy floral dress I got for Christmas from Lindy bop and paired it with my huge, bright cardi from Vintageous Rags. Adam was wearing his new clothes too, a pair of dark grey vintage style jeans and a classic rollneck sweater which I had bought him for Christmas.

Father Christmas!

Eleanor was absolutely spoilt by both families and it was so lovely to see everybody really loving her and enjoying spending time with her. Adam’s mum bought her this adorable little vest..

it’s pretty self explanatory and I love it!

She also got tons of bibs including this cute first christmas one.

Considering that it was such a busy day, we had such a blast. We woke up early and had a lovely chilled breakfast together and unwrapped presents from each other, then headed over to Adam’s mum’s where we spend around 2 hours unwrapping all our presents from each other. There was a ton!

Auntie Sara bought Eleanor some elmo slippers and so they stayed on!

After presents, we sat around and watched Frozen whilst Adam’s mum sorted the dinner. She was on the ball and had it all prepared which made the day go even more smoothly.

She even had the table pre-decorated beautifully with little extra gifts for everybody!

We decided to get a lovely family photo together. Thank gosh for timer!

However, we spent so long taking pictures that the parsnips/potatoes were a little on the crispy side. OOPS.

After dinner and a good relax, we headed over to see my cousin and her two little girls who I bought matching frozen nighties for (which they looked adorable in!).

Sadie was so happy to meet Eleanor and proceeded to decorate her with stickers and tell me how much she liked my baby bless her. She was so sweet with her, even cuddling her when she cried.

From here, we headed to mums where I partied until around half 4 in the morning on firewhiskey and tried to get the hang of my new selfie stick. I didn’t get very far with it…

So that was my Christmas day! Definitely the best Christmas I’ve ever had – thanks to Eleanor for bringing us all together. I can’t wait for next Christmas when she’s walking about and playing and actually enjoying the day – it’s going to be fun!

A few thoughts about Christmas.

Oh Christmas time…

So many people are caught up in buying the perfect present this season or making sure they’ve “bought enough” to keep their families happy. You see kids and teenagers on twitter come Christmas Day complaining that they didn’t get X, Y, Z gifts and that their iphone 6 isn’t a 6s etc. When did we get so materialistic?

I love presents as much as the next person but for me Christmas isn’t about what you do and don’t receive, it’s about seeing those people you don’t see every day, like your brother who lives in London who you’ve been aching to see for months, or your best friend who’s away in Dundee, smashing it at University. It’s about doing little things for each other to spread good will and cheer. It’s about charity and helping out our fellow man. It’s about watching your families face light up when they meet the newest member and spending hours passing her round – proud as punch to of met her. It’s about your uncle getting home in time for Christmas.

Its about spending time together putting up decorations and playing buck-a-roo with the tree, trying to get just one more decoration on. It’s about happily remembering those who couldn’t be here and the old traditions you used to take part in – and the new ones you’ve adopted instead.

But mostly – Christmas is about spending it with those you love, family or not, and basically just being a decent human being to each other.

Merry Christmas. I can’t wait to spend the next two weeks spending it with the most wonderful people that I have the pleasure and privilege to call my friends and family.

(The best gift I’ve received this year)

An update on my life 10/06/2015!

Firstly, let me start by saying how stressful moving is. Now times this by about ten and you’ll get how stressful it is to move when pregnant and your house is full of issues needing to be sorted! Thank god it’s over now! For the most part my house is done – most things are where they should be and it’s just really the spare room which is an organised mess whilst we wait to get shelves built in downstairs alcoves and more storage built in the main bedroom!

Here’s a few snaps of my new house! It needs finishing touches and some more bits built, but I’m pretty pleased with it right now!

Kitchen –

The kitchen was originally bright purple with striped wallpaper. We painted this a light grey colour to go against the dark cabinets and counters an added cream accessories and appliances. We had to buy our own fridge/freezer and we went with white currys essentials which are very spacious and a really decent price. Although this kitchen is smaller than our last, it works out better for us and has the same amount of actual cabinets. You can see my bathroom is just beyond the kitchen! This needed no work and so we just purchased new towels in teal and grey.

Dining Room –

We’ve not really bought much furniture for our new house. The table we’ve had since January from IKEA – however due to lack of space we’ve had it folded away for the majority of time unless we’ve had family over. I’ve been enjoying sitting at the table and eating! We accessorized the table with plain double sided place mats and a contrasting runner we made from two other runners from IKEA! Finally we finished this table with a big bowl vase filled with decorative stones and orange candles. The wallpaper I chose from B N Q and it was a nightmare to put up – however Adam managed to get it up and make it look amazing thanks to his decorating skills! We went with a taupe grey on the walls which matched the furniture and makes the room feel really cosy and homely and it different from the usual cream/magnolia. We will be building big shelves in the alcoves in the dining room and painting them the same taupe grey to blend into the walls. You can’t see here but we’ve put out existing coffee table against the wall on the right with our lovely big mirror above it mounted to the wall.  The huge grey fabric lampshades were already here and we were lucky the colours we wanted to go for went with these.  I was surprised at how well our furniture has filled/looks in the space as we’ve come from a small flat to a much bigger house.

Lounge –

This is probably the worst picture ever as my front window is so bright so getting a pic was pretty difficult! We’ve again brought all out furniture over from the flat and made it work into the snuggest, comfiest, cozy little nook possible! We went with the same wallpaper and paint as its a through lounge. with a big wide archway. The most important part of this room is the HUGE snuggle chair we bought from ebay for a bargain price!  This is now Adam’s big gaming chair which he loves. There’s a puff in the corner for his feet which came with our original L shaped sofa (also a second hand ebay bargain) which JUST fits in the room as it’s huge, a small side table we’re now using as a coffee table(one of the only new things), our lamp which is behind the sofa for the perfect reading nook and our tv stand with consoles and TV!

Another shot of my sitting area! Plenty of seating and space to take an afternoon snooze if I need to.

My Bedroom –

I’m not going to show you much as we’re going to be changing it however this is my lovely paper! I tried the MULIG bars from IKEA for my clothes and there just wasn’t enough storage and they weren’t strong enough to really load the rails and so we’re heading BACK to IKEA to go for the ALGOT storage systems and build in a real custom closet system which will still be open to the room but will have shelves and big drawers and top shelves for tons more storage so I can’t wait for that! The rest of my furniture is IKEA MALM which all matches and so I’ll show you my room as a collective once it is more finished.

Me and bump are doing well. My hair is super thick and growing like wildfire. I’ve switched to pretty much 90% lush products as my skin was getting sore and irritated and its cleared me up since the swap so expect lots of lush reviews on here!

My wee bump is starting to show!
