Charity Queen – Blogger Charity Challenge – Hannah Is Shaving Her Head

Hi ALL!

You may know by now that next week I am getting all of my hair shaved off in the name of charity! The charity I have chosen is Hartlepool Familes First and they’re amazing. To get the word out, I set a challenge for my fellow bloggers to create a post centred around a hair accessory or a hairstyle – as I’ll be getting rid of mine!

I gave all the bloggers some info about me and the charity, which was –

“I have decided that I want to shave my hair off for charity because honestly, I’m not fit enough to run a marathon, I’m too chicken to do a boxing day dip and I’m too lazy to do a sponsored clean!

I currently work for Cleveland College Of Art & Design as Students’ Union President and we have been working with the lovely people over at Hartlepool Families First since September on bits and pieces, but now I want to do something really big and really help an amazing charity out who do so much for the local community. I wish I could explain to you all the amazing work that HFF do, but honestly they do so much I’d be writing forever! However here are a few of the amazing things they do.
They empower the deaf community by putting on health related and social activities. They offer a health bus service to monitor peoples lives and help them to not develop long term conditions. They have a special needs home support scheme to support parents/carers and even offer specialist and stimulating toys and play equipment. They offer one to one support for young adults and children with behavioural issues and additional needs such as autism. There are so many other amazing things that they do, but I would be listing them all day!
So with that in mind, I’m going to cut off my precious hair! Those who know me know how vain I am (not a day goes by without a selfie) and so this is going to be a huge step for me, which is why I’m asking for your support to raise as much money as I possibly can for such a brilliant charity! To donate, visit http://www.justgiving.com/hannahboal or text HCUT88 £ (then any amount from 1-10) to 70070! Thank you,”
I’ve been doing things to prepare for my impending hair shave, such as ordering wigs, putting my extensions into storage, and last night I sat and unpicked all my floral bun garlands as I won’t have hair for a bun! Fear not though, because I decided to reuse the flowers and make flower crowns instead so I can still be a floral queen!

I managed to make 10 in all which I’m super happy with! They’ll take me through summer and still make my bald head pretty whilst my hair grows back! I love how statement these floral crowns are and how much they brighten up an outfit is amazing!
 10152017_498219910284751_744607301_n
And here’s me today wearing one for the blogger challenge! You can’t see but my cardigan has tiny yellow and white daisies all over it and so I decided to brighten it up with this crown! I’m also supposed to be getting my photo took for the paper this afternoon so I decided I might as well make the effort (plus it covers up my huge roots ha!)
So yeah, please donate if you can, it would mean the world to me and the charity! You can donate from £1 and it’s quick and easy to do!
To donate, visithttp://www.justgiving.com/hannahboal or text HCUT88 £ (then any amount from 1-10) to 70070! Thank you,”
And a massive thank you to the other ladies who have taken part and are helping me near my goal!

Cut for Evans but not Cut for Hannah..

So this is just a quick follow up post to the previous post about all my internet shopping! First thing to arrive was my Cut For Evans items…and they were also the first thing to be returned! I didn’t even take pictures because I just wanted the items off my body so much. It wasn’t that there was anything wrong with the items themselves, they just were NOT for me.

Starting with the jumpsuit.

jumpsuit

It was just so much more neon in person, and the v neck really didn’t sit low enough on me to make it youthful. The cut of this however was beautiful and it fit me like a glove – just a shame the colours were so bright. Also it’s a super stretch jersey which made the item feel ever so slightly cheap.

trousers

The trousers I sized up on, and they were still lightly tight and then loose on the leg. They were also super short on me and I’m tiny myself! I wasn’t a fan of the jersey legging like feel either and so back they go!

shirt

The only saving grace was the shirt. I liked this on and I could see me wearing it with loads – however it gaped ever so slightly on my bust….and the 24 is sold out! Wah! It’s a lovely feeling shirt, and really wearable – just so gutted that it was small on the bust because it’s lovely.

So yeah it’s all going back sadly! A mix of the colours bein “too much” and me having a difficult body shape.

Sorry Cut For Evans – it just wasn’t meant to be!

One last note! I’m shaving my head for a local charity called Hartlepool Families first, and have set up a justgiving page for anybody who would kindly sponsor me! You can also donate via text by texting HCUT88 £ (Then any amount from 1-10) to 70070!

My hair is everything to me, however I want to do something drastic to support this wonderful charity – thanks!

Alllllllll the online shopping.

Does anybody else find themselves awake at two o’clock in the morning, unable to sleep and so on goes the laptop…. Thats me. If i’m ill, stressed, can’t sleep or even worse all three – I shop.

This week has been awful. I went to a conference which to be honest, was full of bullies and not particularly nice people, travelling and being stressed made me super ill and I got my first period in 2 years and so my card – and Adam’s has taken a battering. Thankfully I actually had the money there to spend, and I’m hopefully going to ask for some of the items as birthday presents…

So what did I buy?

1489154_495255897247819_582512832_nWhilst at the Conference, I took quite ill and all I could think of was fresh bedsheets..and so I bought a cute new set from Primark for the bargain price of £16! I also got pillowcases and a fitted sheet, some jewellery, new pants, a headband and a few packs of their false nails which are awesome!

I also got the most amazing hipster coat for £3.99 in a charity shop!

Also that day I saw that Evans had launched a massive sale, including all the Cut For Evans range which I had been eyeing up for quite a long time, and decided to have a peek! I ended up ordering a few bits. I went for –

The Pink & Green V Neck Jumpsuit

jumpsuit

I’ve never ever owned a jumpsuit, or a playsuit and I’m only just really getting into wearing trousers – however this jumpsuit really struck me and I’ve spent the last month or so deciding if I wanted it or not. When I saw that it was in the sale, I decided I might as well give it a try – and with my impending head shave coming up..i’m feeling brave!

Also, I ordered the blue shirt and trouser set, which could be bought and worn separate – but I decided to get both!

shirt trouserstogether

What attracted me to this set is how wearable and interchangeable I could see it being. I imagined wearing it as a set, or dressing the trousers up for a nice meal with a smart top, or throwing on a simple tank, jacket and pumps for a casual yet smart look. The shirt I could wear a million ways! Under dresses/smocks, with various skirts and jackets and trousers to create a whole array of different dressed up and down looks. I figured for £20, it would be a good investment! All three, with delivery to store (after using a 20% off code) came to just £52, which was a great saving.

I then popped onto my fave shop – ASOS Curve.

When I was at the Bonmarche store re-opening with the beautiful Kathryn, she was wearing a dress I had been eyeing up for a while – the ASOS Curve Sunflower skater dress. I had a few concerns though as I saw that it was buttoned down the front and was unsure if it would work with my bust!

IMG_5242

As you can see, I had no problem with the fit – in fact it fit me like an absolute glove! I was so glad I could actually give it a “test drive” thanks to the lovely Kathryn, and seeing as I loved it so much, I decided to order it.

I also re-ordered a dress I ordered and sent back due to the sizing being tiny and not being able to button it on my bust! This is the button front denim dress.

image1xl

I was pretty peeved with the fit of this dress, as the model makes it look oversized – when it isn’t. Why not use models that actually fit your clothes ASOS? ANYWAY! I re-ordered it cause again I thought it would be a super versatile piece, great for layering with different shirts, jumpers and tops – or even on it’s own.

I find it incredibly hard to find heels being disabled, and so I’m hoping that the Pembury platforms will work for me!

image1xl (1) image3xl

The heels come to 2.75 inches, with a 1.75 inch platform and so i’m hopeful! I live in flats, however sometimes I just want a little bit of height and a more glamorous shoe. Fingers crossed!

I had been eyeing up the vanity fair collection from Simply Be, however I was put off the jacket when I saw other people buying it as I thought the pink was too coral for what I was wanting personally. So I hunted online for a pink biker jacket and found a beautiful alternative.

I found this Pink PU Biker Jacket from Matalan, and at £30, it’s less than half the price of the other one I was going to order which was a nice bonus. The real upside is it is the exact pastel I was looking for!

I saw this cute white shirt for the bargain price of £14, and thought it would be really versatile in my wardrobe

shirtttt

It could go with the blue trousers, the denim dress and the skirt/jumper coming up next! There’s also loads in my wardrobe which would go with it! It’s such a great basic piece – I hope it fits! Adam bought me these two bits as part of my birthday present as my birthday is next month!

My final call was to Simply Be for more bits for my birthday and for two pieces I’ve been truly lusting over.

g02sl201500whuge

I’ve wanted a PVC skirt for months now, and so when I saw this one I KNEW I had to have it. This one is pastel and beautiful and I love it. I sized up as I know Simply Be can often be small fitting and I want this to fit me nicely!

g02sl200505shuge

I most definitely needed to have this jumper to wear with it, and it popped up at half price this week and so I knew I needed it! This will look so cute with a shirt under, or layered with the denim dress, or even thrown on with the blue trousers! It’s going to be a great “throw on” jumper which will go with so much. Adam kindly got me these two bits for my Birthday next month too! It seems early, but we’re organized and I didn’t want items to sell out!

So that’s my mammoth online shop this week, watch out for items cropping up as reviews on the blog!

Isn’t she….Pretty in pink? – Feat Simply Be

With my birthday just around the corner, I have been scouring the internet for possible present ideas! I tend to tell my other half what I want due to the fact that I absolutely hate surprises! Plus, we’d rather get each other something we know that the other wants! Whilst browsing this month, I’ve come across the most perfect collection…and I want it all.

The Vanity Fair collection from Simply Be is absolute pure perfection. The collection is based around pastel pink – which is super on trend – pretty florals, prom dresses and mix and match-able separates.

I actually love so much of the collection, however I’ll show you my fave 5 pieces!

g02sl202502shuge

The first piece, and most expensive is this absolutely beautiful PU Pink Biker Jacket! This retails at £70, however I feel I would get SO much wear out of it. There’s so much in my wardrobe which would look perfect with this jacket, and it also coordinates so well with the rest of the collection. I love the tough biker edge mixed with the super girly pink. Thats what makes this piece work so much!

g02sl186501shuge

The lip print midi skirt is one item which would look effortlessly cool with the PU jacket. All it needs is a simple black tank and a chunky heel for some serious sass.

If the jacket isn’t your vibe, you could wear this adorable cropped jumper with the midi skirt for a dressed down but smart look – perfect for my job in an art college, or a day shopping with my friends.

Pop a cute collared shirt under the cropped jumper and team with this absolutely BEAUTIFUL pastel pink PVC pencil skirt for a twist on a smart look.

Scuba fabric is becoming increasingly more popular right now, and this prom dress is a perfect example of how it works well! The print is stunning against the nude/pink background and could be dressed up with shiny black tights and killer heels for a meal out/night out with friends, or could be teamed with the PU biker jacket and a chunky ankle boot for a more daytime look.

I’m super in love with this collection, mostly because the items are all so workable with each other so you get more looks for less money – which is good when you’re on a budget like myself! Hopefully with my birthday being next month, some of these beautiful items will make their way to my wardrobe where they will be much loved and much worn..but for now I will lovingly stare at them online!

Will you take me to the prom? Feat Scartlett & Jo!

Hi lovelies!

As a larger chested lady I always find it super hard to find dresses that fit me lovely on the waist, but also accommodate my bust. It is the biggest frustration I have when shopping and it really stresses me out! One dress I’ve found which has absolutely smashed that problem to bits, is the Scarlett & Jo Black 2 in 1 Floral Prom Dress. Scarlett and Jo kindly sent me this dress for review, and I’ve been in absolute awe of it ever since I slipped it out of its packet. Part of the spring romance collection, the dress is adorned with beautiful flowers in rich pinks, violets and purples, which makes adding accessories so easy.

I decided to give this dress a real road test and wear it to a family meal. I’m not super comfortable with all of my family – some of them have made comments in the past about my weight and my mum tends to grumble if I wear anything too low, however – this dress got me nothing but praise!

IMG_5310[1]

I wanted to keep this look simple, and went for a pair of vintage style bow fronted pink shoes with a tiny heel, a vintage style hard bodies bag and one of my beloved Drown Soda necklaces!

IMG_5305[1]

Makeup wise, I went for MUA funk, a strong brow and a light pink blush to accent the different beautiful pink tones in the dress.

IMG_5313[1]

My wig is winter from Geisha Wigs with a shorter fringe and will be my daily wig when I get the hair chop at the end of the month!

So now down to the fit of the dress…

IMG_5311[1]

I asked for a size 22, which was really generous due to the jersey top, and I could of sized down to a 20 if I liked. The elastic waistband is actually on top of the jersey and is stitched down one side, which I really liked because it means you don’t have an uncomfortable elastic waistband against your skin. I absolutely love the print of the skirt, I think it’s beautiful and just enough. The jersey top gives enough cleavage without being “too much” and is a great way to accommodate a larger bust. I love the length of the sleeves, however I wish they were slightly tighter for me personally! The dress is super super flattering and makes me look smaller than I am. This dress would be brilliant on most body types due to the versatility of the jersey top. The petticoat under the skirt isn’t scratchy like I thought it might of been, and is the perfect amount of “poof” to the skirt. All in all, I’m crazy about this dress!

IMG_5312[1]

I genuinely felt amazing in this dress. I had a meal and it was still comfortable and non restrictive. My only real fault of the dress is I wished it was just a few inches shorter for me personally, however I’m only five 2! Maybe Scarlett & Jo could look into a petite range?

I posted this dress on my Instagram and I got a lot of love from my snaps which was so kind, and even had two ladies telling me they’d ordered it which is great! If you fancy ordering it yourself, it’s currently 15% off and worth every penny.

So thank you Scarlett and Jo for gifting me this dress to review. It’s definitely one of your best designs and I look forwards to seeing what the future holds for you as a company as you seem to be going from strength to strength!
